The staff at the Greystone Program recognizes that recovery from mental illness is unique to each individual. Both houses are staffed 24 hours a day, and have access to the hospital’s psychiatric and emergency medical services if needed. Each resident has a multidisciplinary treatment team that can include their psychiatrist, the program nurse, and counseling staff. Families are recognized as important members of the treatment team, and their involvement in care and treatment planning is welcomed and encouraged.
Residents receive medication monitoring, therapy and activity groups, and individualized support for the completion of daily activities such as hygiene, food preparation, and socialization. Both houses are comfortable, home-like settings where residents are provided with nutritious meals and recreational activities including community outings. The Greystone program is not a locked facility, and residents have access to Friends Hospital’s 100 acre grounds.
